Spain

In January 2023 we have travelled to a small town in the North of Spain. We stayed in Gijón for 4 nights, and the total cost for the flights and accomondation was £55pp.

Gijón Surf Hostel
One of the reasons why the trip was so cheap, was because we decided to not spend much on the accomodation. We stayed in a surf hostel in a small surfing town, Gijón. The facilities were very clean, staff extremely friendly and overall it was a positive stay. The hostel offers trips/ equipment for surfing, paddle boarding and more. We have found ourselves having evening drinks with the people staying at the hostel. Drinking sangrias and playing board games. The total cost per person/ 4 night was £40.
Jesters of Arenillas
Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Asturias, Jesters of Arenillas is a hidden gem that promises an enchanting escape for those seeking a unique and memorable experience. Located just a scenic drive away from Gijón, this quaint establishment embodies the spirit of Asturian hospitality while offering a distinct charm that sets it apart.

The journey from Gijón to Jesters of Arenillas is an adventure in itself, taking you through winding roads and breathtaking vistas of the Asturian countryside. As you approach the destination, the anticipation builds, and you're greeted by the warmth of this idyllic retreat.
Night life
The journey into Gijón's nocturnal world often begins in the historic Cimavilla district. Narrow cobbled streets come alive with the warm glow of traditional cider bars, where locals and tourists mingle, savoring the famed Asturian sidra. The intimate atmosphere encourages conversation, setting the stage for an authentic introduction to Asturian culture. As the night progresses, the beats of music draw revelers toward the Marina district. Here, an eclectic mix of bars and pubs line the waterfront, offering everything from live jazz to upbeat electronic tunes. The backdrop of the sea adds a touch of magic to the evening, creating an ambiance that's both lively and serene.
